Growing up Kentrel was always into music, he always loved the rhythm and rhymes artist had made. He enjoyed music like Michael Jackson, Prince, Billy Ocean and many other artists with his grandfather. He first started working on music with his brother to get better at it. His first song was Y.R.P. (Around my chest) with his best friend. It got both of them inspired while his brother was working on it. It was not a Christian song at the moment, but it sparked something to encourage him to do more music. When he officially started working on his music he did what every artist did talk about women and money and cars and jewelry. It didn't seem to keep the spark going. So he stopped for a while. Until something hit him, he found God and found what his calling was. He started to make Christian music and went to his record label and said that he wanted to change everything. The first song that he did as a Christian Artist was Bring My Life Back featuring his brother. It was a song his brother did years back that always inspired him to rap. As they teamed up to do the song it was a hit. It was the first single of the album My Testimony.

When Kentrel approached SlikkMouthRec with his music, it was clear to all involved that there was something special about to hit the scene. SlikkMouthRec hurried to sign him to the label, and they’ve been making incredible music together ever since 2007.
